Exactly 4 weeks ago I decided that we needed a real decent logo for the Seattle 2.0 blog, and I thought that a contest would be a way to get a designer to participate and submit concepts, since the readership of this blog has significant overlap w/ potential designer's clients.
Well, the results are:
- 4 designers sent me email saying they would submit something, but never did;
- 1 designer started negotiating price, which clearly is not what I was looking for.
- 1 person submitted a logo, but it wasn't what I was looking for and he asked me not to blog about it.
- 1 designer asked if it was ok for him to send something, since he's not on the Puget Sound.
I think this somewhat is what I expected from the beginning... a long shot at getting a logo for Seattle 2.0 and it didn't work.
I still want to have a logo, but I can't afford paying $500 bucks, or use something like LogoWorks, which his a low odds of hitting it right.
My next move might be to get a sponsor for this website so I can pay a designer to create a logo and template. What do you think?
